Personnel

DEAC is staffed with highly qualified engineering personnel.  The senior technical staff, for the most part, is comprised of the corporate officers, who are principals of the company.  In addition to performing the management functions of the company, the principals assume responsibility for project management and technical direction of all DEAC projects.  The principals are assisted by other staff members who provide clerical, technical and engineering support.  A majority of the staff members spent the early portion of their careers working in the nuclear industry at local Westinghouse Divisions.   Since then, they have served as engineering consultants to general industry, with special emphasis on finite element analysis of mechanical equipment and pressure vessel components.

THE DEAC PRINCIPALS

ALAN J. ERRETT
B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, 49 years experience, P.E. in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Errett's multidisciplinary background includes extensive experience in finite element analysis, vibration and strain-gage testing, fracture mechanics, heat transfer, and dynamic analysis.  He has employed finite element analyses, along with state-of-the-art fracture mechanics techniques, to perform detailed failure analysis studies and to develop inspection programs based on tolerable/critical crack sizes and cyclic crack growth rates.  He has successfully performed strain gage testing on a wide range of rotating equipment to evaluate steady and dynamic operating loads and to verify finite element analysis results.  In addition, Mr. Errett has served in the capacity of expert witness on several cases involving major structural/mechanical failures of industrial systems and components.  He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Metals, the American Welding Society, and Sigma Tau.

ROBERT S. JOSEPH
B.S. in Engineering Mechanics, M.S. in Civil Engineering, 51 years experience, P.E. in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Joseph started his professional career at the Westinghouse Astronuclear Laboratory and has been a consultant to industry and government agencies for the past 35 years.  His experience includes extensive use of large scale finite element computer programs to solve complex engineering problems involving static, dynamic, elastic-plastic, large deflection, and heat transfer analyses.  He has performed design analyses to the requirements of Sections III and VIII of the ASME Code, ASME Piping Codes, SDB-63, and the AISC Code, and has prepared numerous Code Stress reports and seismic qualification reports.  He has published several technical papers dealing with structural dynamics using finite element methods and has taught short courses on Section VIII of the ASME Code.  Mr. Joseph has also performed many fracture mechanics evaluations using the NASCRAC fracture mechanics software.  He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

ALLAN T. JUNKER*
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, over 50 years experience, P.E. in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Mr. Junker's experience with finite element analysis dates back to 1970 when software was being introduced in the nuclear and aerospace industries.   Since then, many other commercial industry sectors have embraced the technology and Mr. Junker has participated in both teaching the subject and practicing it professionally.   His activities as a consultant to the steel industry have included off-gas thermal and mechanical analysis of BOF systems, water cooled hoods, recuperator thermal and mechanical analysis, air preheater heat balance and stress analysis, continuous caster roll thermal analysis, and other equipment analysis employing fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and stress analysis.  Mr. Junker has taught short courses on ASME Section VIII extensively in the United States and Europe.
